Robinson and Mitch McGary had been friends for years prior to their Michigan affiliation. By the time McGary committed to Michigan in November 2011, Robinson had moved up to the national number 34 player ranking according to Rivals.com. On September 14, 2010, Robinson became the first verbal commitment to the Michigan Wolverines men’s basketball class of 2012.
